MOONSHINE BANDITS with NE LAST WORDS, QUANTUM , GREGORY MICHAEL DAVIS
This was a highly anticipated night as it was the return of the highly popular Moonshine Bandits. Arriving early, there was already a line out front, and once inside it was standing room only! Up first was local boys Quantum, a seasoned 4 piece band of musicians who were the only actual rock band on the nights bill. Next up was Gregory Michael Davis, and this group of musicians is different than any we have covered.Their show is more of a spoken word / smooth rap, and the band is comprised of a female backup singer, and 2 females one on cello and the other on violin along with Gregory on keyboards and vocals. This was different and interesting, and fun to watch.
Local favs Never Ending Last Words, a local band with some of the best musicians playing Vegas and beyond a shadow of a doubt the best band as an opener for Moonshine Bandits, their musical style compliments Moonshine Bandits better than any band I have seen. There were sound problems in the beginning which seemed to fire up the band even more, but they played through the problems and all seemed to be ok as they launched into the crowd favorite, a cover of Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name Of" which sent the packed house into a frenzied jumping sing along with lots of middle fingers in the air. The band closed out their set and made way for the Moonshine Bandits to headline their Baptised in Bourbon Tour.
After a brief set change the house lights finally dimmed and DJ Chopsticks took to the turntables along with Drummer Chick Jordan Antidote pounding a mean beat on drums. Finally the Moonshine Bandits stormed the stage as fans swarmed forward to get as close as possible to their heros. One of the highlights of their show was a brief tale on the making of their video with legend David Allen Coe....the band filmed the video at the Shawshank Prison where in fact David actually did time.
During the middle of the set an Uncle Sam dressed crew member came onstage holding a F#ck Isis sign along with 2 members of Ne Last Words holding a large American Flag as the band went into "Pass Me the Ammo".
The Moonshine Bandits are all about America and are one of the most patriotic bands you will ever see. In fact they are starting their own charity to send care packages to our soldiers abroad. As the band closed out their show they invited all the female fans onstage as they sang the popular "Dive Bar Queen" with the ladies dancing and the crowd singing it was a perfect way to end. Another amazing evening of live music at the Adrenaline Sports Bar and Grill.
