Homegrown rock talent was on full display at Vinyl Las Vegas inside the Hard Rock Hotel on September 15, 2017 when local-rockers-made-good, OTHERWISE, held their CD release party for the new album Sleeping Lions (September 22 on Century Media). Before OTHERWISE hit the stage they received direct support from metal-core rockers GEMINI SYNDROME, and one of Las Vegas’ fastest up and coming local bands, HONOR AMONGST THIEVES.
The night may have been all about OTHERWISE, but first the crowd inside Vinyl was treated to these two exceptional warm-up acts before the headliners took stage. HONOR AMONGST THIEVES is quickly becoming one of the fastest rising and hardest working local acts in all of Las Vegas. They appeared on the stage at the two biggest rock festivals in Las Vegas this year, after winning the battle of the bands to play Las Rageous and then came back for Scars and Stripes. This young band brings high energy with some well written original lyrics that leave you expecting big things in the future from these local boys.
LA's Alternative metal rockers GEMINI SYNDROME provided direct support for the night, and the band is best known for enigmatic front-man Aaron Nordstrom, but the surprise at Vinyl was that they had recruited COAL CHAMBER guitarist Meegs Rascon to join the line-up. The band is touring in support of their latest album Memento Mori (Century Media) and current radio single "Sorry Not Sorry", and has a heathy fan base in Vegas that urned out en masse to see the show. Gemini Syndrome will headline some shows through the mid September, then join Fozzy on the Judas Rising Tour late September into October. Check on tour dates here.

OTHERWISE is one of several local acts who broke out big time sometime after 2010, along with Imagine Dragons and Adelita's Way, all seeming to get signed at or near the same time from the local music scene, and all made their own impressions and marks in the industry. OTHERWISE went through much turmoil after the success of the 2014 release “Peace at all Cost”, and make no mistake, this band is all about the Patrick brothers now, and Adrian and Ryan seem more ready than ever to shoulder that burden. After several line-up changes, they Patrick brothers now have Tony Carboney joining them on bass and Brian Medeiros on drums. This line-up seems poised to follow the success of Peace at all Costs and if early indications are correct Sleeping Lions is set to do just that. The band unveiled the new song “Angry Heart” with Adrian Patrick proclaiming before-hand that “anger is a gift, if utilized properly”. With new songs like “Angry Heart” and “Close to the Gods” receiving as much crowd reaction as staples like “Soldiers” and “Coming for the Throne”, it appears that OTHERWISE’S hiatus is officially over and they are ready to reclaim their spot as one of the top rock acts to break out of the Las Vegas metal scene.
