After an amazing summer of FREE Concerts downtown at the Fremont Street Experience this was the final concert of the 2017 Summer Concert Series with Chevelle. This was the biggest and best summer they have ever had for the Concert series - it showed in the record breaking crowds throughout the summer for each and every show. The Chevelle show was no different - upwards of 15,000 fans showing up for this summer concert finale.
Chevelle was announced by Fremont Street Experience President Patrick Hughes, and when Chevelle came out of the dressing room and hit the stage the crowd surged forward at the opening chord of "Another Know It All" and the start of the show. This band is a talented trio consisting of Pete Loeffler on lead vocals and guitars, Sam Loeffler on drums and Dean Bernardini on bass. Not a band to banter with the crowd, their set was just around 75 minutes long, at 18 songs filled with all of the usual hits - highlights included "The Clincher", "Vitamin R", "Closure", "I Get It", and the band did an encore of "The Red", "Comfortable Liar", and "Send The Pain Below".
The fervent fans wanted them to continuing playing throughout the night, as they knew this was the last time this year that major touring bands would be playing for free in this summer concert series. This was an unforgettable summer of FREE shows and we can not wait to see what they will announce for the summer of 2018 down at Fremont Street Experience.
A big thanks from Scary Monsters to Leslie Church for taking such good care of us all summer and to Mary Ann and her staff for being so professional to all of us in the media who cover their shows each and every year.
