This was a party years in the making, years of sweat, hard work, frustration, highs and lows, but that day finally arrived - the NEVER ENDING LAST WORDS CD release party for their first full length self titled release Never Ending Last Words was finally here. Pulling up to the Dive Bar you could tell this was going to be something special, and in the parking lot in front of the Dive Bar was a big tent filled with NE Last Words merch, parked next to that was a food truck, and the parking lot was filled with cars and the fans arrived early. Fans congratulated the band on this memorable event, another cool thing about this night was that it was a show with all local music, and not just any local bands but some of the best this town has to offer.
Kicking off the show was the band RUST REBELLION, who we just saw a few nights earlier and we are really impressed with the talent in this band. Following them it was another talented band MASTIV who just kicks ass at every show, and joining them onstage was Etch the singer for the band For The Fight, as they did a rousing version of "Jump Around" that had the entire building shaking to it’s foundation. Next was the band HONOR AMONGST THIEVES, another killer local band who always delivers an amazing show.
But this night was all about NE LAST WORDS. NE Last Words is blessed with some of the hardest working, most talented musicians working the West Coast today. This band is comprised of Brian Jones on vocals, Tyler Jensen on vocals, Phat Jack on guitar, Johnny D on guitar, Jameson JJ Jackson on bass and Randy Trent on drums. I have been covering this band for a few years now and I have seen the progression of their songwriting, and it is most evident on their new self titled CD. The band, under the guidance of Tim Thurtle, have gone from just playing small local clubs to touring with the The Moonshine Bandits and are planning to go out and do a slew of dates with (hed)PE.
NE Last Words is a band of brothers who seem to be a pretty tight knit group with no egos, no in fighting, just comradery, and we all know if they even think of getting out of line their manager Tim will kick all their asses! The new songs sound amazing live and the band played a mix of old and new songs throughout their set, and at times the mosh pit nearly consumed the entire floor at the Dive Bar. Fans young and old alike were into everything the band threw at them, and the show went on until past 1 am.
Once again a big congrats to NE LAST WORDS on reaching this milestone in their career. You can catch them May 5th at Triple B’s opening for Hemlock, and then on June 8th at Brooklyn Bowl opening for TSOL.
