This was an interesting post Christmas FREE metal show featuring all local bands held inside at the Beauty Bar, and one of the bands we were excited to see was the debut show by the band PARIAH WAS ONE featuring dIM vocalist Calvin Sroka on lead vocals. Sroka normally shares vocals in dIM with his partner Wes Logan, but this was going to be interesting to see how would do on his own. Sroka killed it, he was always a great frontman in dIM, and stepping out solo was a natural progression for this talented singer. He was nervous before hitting the stage, but once the band started he went straight into fight mode and showed Vegas this band is something that will around for a long time. The man who convinced Sroka to take on this job was the guitarist / composer of the band Kevin Lemus. Kevin is a fantastic guitarist who really steps out as the leader of this band, his songwriting and guitar playing might be some of the best we have seen from him so far with this project. Joining Lemus and Sroka in this band are Glenn Cwikla - Drums, Nour Ayasso - Guitar and Oscar Rosales - Bass. This band wowed the crowd and and was more than I expected!
Dying To Live is a metal / punk band from right here in Vegas, and an interesting thing is they have no guitar player, just a bass, drums and singer, and they pull it off. This band has a great frontman in Eric to go along with Evan on drums, a very solid band who were great to see.
CIRKA:SIK stole the show - and play music the way it should be - loud, dangerous and unpredictable, and there is no better venue for this band than the Beauty Bar. This band owned the stage with their wild and unpredictable antics, and lead singer KFW might be the most unpredictable, as you never know what he is going to do once he hits the stage. KFW came out dressed in a pink bunny suit like Ralphie from A Christmas Story, and the only thing that limited his antics was the cord on the microphone, which kept him close to the stage. He threw the mic stand around, climbed the pole next to the stage and hung off of it during the show. Equally unpredictable is their bass player Omnion, who plays bass like no one else in Vegas. He was all over the Beauty Bar , jumping off the stage and going into the crowd and then on top of the bar, inside the photo booth and eventually out onto the street. When he returned to the stage he spun and jumped around with a frantic passion. Joining them onstage were Capt. Phildo- Drums and Ivyn Vylent on the 6/7 String. This was by far one of my favorite bands I have covered.
Following Cirka:Sik would be no easy task, but the band Lobotomize took to the stage and gave it their all. The band is a thrash metal band from right here in Vegas and consists of lead guitar/vocalist Chuck Ruffin, drummer Berry Ruffin, and bassist Sean Flynn. This is a young band and a band I hope to see more of in 2019. .A big thanks to the Beauty Bar and we look forward to more metal shows in 2019…
