Metal Allegiance's Powerhouse Show with Superfix and Weapons of Anew at HOB LV

Metal Allegiance gave us a big powerhouse of a set at the House of Blues LV, the metal supergroup touring and celebrating their 5th year of kicking ass, with a lineup that for this Vegas show that featured drummer extraordinaire Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater/Sons of Apollo/The Winery Dogs), Alex Skolnick (Testament) and Phil Demmel (Machine Head) on guitar, Dave Ellefson (Megadeth) on bass, Mark Menghi (MA founder) on bass, along with vocalists John Bush (Armored Saint), Chuck Billy (Testament), Troy Sanders (Mastodon), and even a cameo from Lauren Hart (Once Human/Kamelot).

Opening the show was Weapons of Anew, and I was really surprised to see veteran rocker Ray West, who I remembered from NYC’s Spread Eagle, on stage belting out some new metal, along with band members Freddy Ordine (Axiom) on guitar, Chris Manfre on Drums, and Stefan Reno Cutrupi on Bass. WOA set the tone for the night with a high energy set with songs from their release The Collision of Love and Hate, available for download HERE .

Supercharged Superfix gave us a couple of surprises with their set, with vocalist Kalen Chase fronting a band featuring Eli Rubin, Shannon Lizzy, Greg Collister and guest guitarist Logan Mader (Once Human/Machinehead) blasting our faces off, with an special appearance at the end of the set from Lauren Hart (Once Human/Kamelot) to finish with a bang. Chase formerly toured with Korn, and the band has a self titled album out you can hear HERE .

Metal Allegiance never dissappoints, bringing a high energy show full of tenured musicians that turn the stage into a metal party. The vocalists switch off throughout the set, and you get to hear some big hits and favorites from the musicians former and present bands, as well as many MA penned tunes. We heard John Bush, Chuck Billy, Troy Sanders, and Lauren Hart on vocals before the night was done, and these guys (and gal) really have a good time out there, and the constant change ups on stage keep the energy high for the entire night.
