Motionless in White: Trick 'R Treat Tour Feat Twiztid, after The Burial and We Came As Romans at

What better way to celebrate the month of October than with Motionless in White out on their Trick ‘R Treat Tour, featuring support from Twiztid, After The Burial, and We Came As Romans? Motionless in White recently released their fifth studio album, Disguise, and have put together a new tour with quite an eclectic lineup to support them.

Twiztid is an American hip-hop duo from Detroit, and is composed of Jamie Spaniolo and Paul Methric, who use the stage names Jamie Madrox and Monoxide Child. They also feature an amazing drummer, Drayven Davidson, who is an absolute BEAST and super entertaining. Formed in 1997 they have an immense discography featuring eleven studio albums, ten compilation albums, ten EPs, and one mixtape. Often referred to as “horrorcore” their style and image fits well with MIW, and this is not the first time that they have shared the same stage, and they were the perfect way to kick off an evening of ghoulish live music.

American metalcore band After the Burial, has six studio albums, including their April 2019 release, Evergreen, and are currently signed with Sumerian Records. The band consists of founding member Trent Hafdahl (guitar, clean vocals, and programming), Anthony Notarmaso (lead vocals), Dan Carle (drums), and Adrian Oropeza (bass). After The Burial tore through their seven-song set and lit the crowd on fire with hits like "Lost in the Static", "Aspiration", and "A Wolf Amongst Ravens", with a few songs from their latest album sandwiched in between. The crowd responded with heavy moshing, and the crowd surfers began to pour over the barrier. The energy was palpable, and the set ended all too quickly for my liking. This was my first time seeing them perform live and I really wanted more.

We Came As Romans (WCAR), an American metalcore/post-hardcore band from Michigan, has gone through one name change and multiple lineup changes since they formed in 2005. WCAR has released two EPs and five full-length albums, and have another in the works, from which they have released two new singles. WCAR currently is Dave Stephens (vocals), Joshua Moore (guitar, backing vocals), Lou Cotton (guitar), Andy Glass (bass, backing vocals), and David Puckett (drums). On August 25th of last year WCAR suffered the tragic loss of co-vocalist Kyle Pavone from an accidental overdose, and rather than replace Pavone, they have chosen to move on with Stephens handling both clean and unclean vocals. WCAR took the stage to a cheering crowd, already pumped up from ATB’s fiery performance, and Stephens shouts out the first line of their opening track, "Vultures With Clipped Wings"..., “I never found peace…”, and the crowd responds loudly with the follow up “…but now I’m fighting a war!” and it was on from there. They performed both of their recently released singles, "Carry The Weight" and "From The First Note", both of which are outstanding. Of course, they also performed popular songs like "Lost In The Moment" and "Wasted Age", and finished off the set with "Cold Like War", all of which are phenomenal but without the high, clean vocals of Pavone just don’t feel the same to me. While I agree with the band’s decision not to replace him, he is sorely missed. WCAR did a great job following up the powerhouse performance of ATB and kept the crowd in it, setting up for the highlight headliner, Motionless In White.

Motionless In White took to the stage in front of a haunted house backdrop and dozens of creepy Jack-O-Lanterns, a skeleton with glowing red eyes, and a life-sized ghost. MIW is a five-piece American metal band from Pennsylvania, consisting of Chris “Motionless” Cerulli (vocals), Ryan Sitkowski (lead guitar), Ricky “Horror” Olson (rhythm guitar), Vinny Mauro (drums), and Justin Morrow (bass). Their style has been labeled “horror-metal” which fully fits with the current tour's theme. They kick off their set with the immensely popular songs "Undead Ahead 2" and "Reincarnate", grabbing the attention of everyone in the building and creating a frenzy in the mosh pit - song after song the crowd is fully involved and singing along loudly. At various times during the set the band is joined by creepy characters such as a patchwork scarecrow, with a burlap bag full of candy, from which they scoop out hands full to throw to the audience. A giant zombie-like skeleton chases Chris and Justin around the stage while they continue to perform, and at the end of the set Chris throws roses out to random people in the crowd. Their set comes to an end with an encore performance of "Eternally Yours", putting a perfect cap on an outstanding night of music. MIW puts on a powerful musical performance and an equally powerful visual performance. They are one of my favorites when it comes to live music, they tick all the boxes and are worth every penny of the price of admission. With the lineup that they put together for this tour I consider it a bargain. Motionless In White never disappoints, and all four groups were outstanding.
