Dark Chapel band, fronted by guitarist/singer Dario Lorina (Black Label Society), made a live hometown debut show in Las Vegas at Count's Vamp'd, celebrating and showcasing their new record out NOW! The debut LP, Spirit in the Glass (MNRK Heavy), has a gothic, otherwordly sound, very melodic, with blues influenced songs with a grungy attitude.
Special guest Don Jamieson opened the show with his comedic banter, a real rock n roll persona himself, having been co-host for That Metal Show as well as a long time stand up comic. Jamieson has stand-up CD's Live & Hilarious, Hell Bent for Laughter, and Communication Breakdown, as well as his newest CD Denim and Laughter, which he gave us a few bits from in his live show at Vamp'd. All CDs are out on Metal Blade Records, and you can find out more and order HERE.
Dark Chapel was who the fans and friends lined up early at Vamp'd to support however, and they got to hear almost every cut from the new record in the set, including the album’s first single, “Glass Heart,” as well as the new single/video "Corpse Flower" just out last week.
Lorina was joined by Mike Gunn on bass, drummer Luis Silva, and Dylan Dice on guitar, and the band really sounded cohesive and tight, and the crowd really loved every minute of it. The album officially came out February 28, so this was a first hear for many of the songs, and really showed the intense style and sound - Lorina's amazing guitar virtuosity, as well as his vocal prowess (which really has a Cornell-esque soulful tone) and amazing harmonies and melodies wrapped up in gothic, emotive lyrics.

The new album is a hard, melancholy and heavy showpiece, and gave us a real feel for the music and direction, and the show was a blazing success - having the release party in Vegas really cemented the locals' support ,and you could feel the love. In addition to the album tracks, the lengthy live set also gave us an instrumental cut from Lorina's solo Death Grip Tribulations, and wrapped up with the soulful bluesy Black Label cover "Ain't No Sunshine", a nice local nod to Vinny P. (who appeared in the video), who most certainly would have attended and cheered him on.
Dark Chapel haven't announced an upcoming tour as yet, but you get the record, merch and keep up with all things Dark Chapel HERE. Check out special vinyl pressings and more at MNRK Heavy HERE.
