FILTER at Brooklyn Bowl with LV Own Heroine Honey and Crashing Wayward

I was excited to cover the return of FILTER to Las Vegas, I have covered them numerous times in the past but this time was different and we will get to that in a minute. This was one of those nights where the support bands really made an impact, an opening up this show were two local bands, both we absolutely LOVED.

The first band to take the stage was HEROINE HONEY, and I could not believe I had not seen them before - the minute this band took to the stage I knew I was in for a treat. They describe themselves as a female fronted Alt - Pop - Rock - Grunge band, led by the powerhouse vocals of Chastity Raper, and this talented young lady was a breath of fresh air to see live and is a powerhouse among local female singers. On guitars you have Steven Raper, Brian Cantrell on bass, and on drums Dylan Self. This was the band's first time at

Brooklyn Bowl, and they really made an impact and worked the stage for a great. show. I look forward to catching this band more in the coming months, what a force!

CRASHING WAYWARD is one of my favorite local bands, and a touring band plain and simple. This band has no weaknesses, they are stacked at every position and have a real stage

presence and work the room - they know how to entertain and own it, and vocalist Peter Summit struts and moves about the stage like he was born to perform. This band does not stand still like so many others; they all are moving about and really making a show for the fans. This band is guitarists Stacey Blades and David Harris, Carl Raether on bass, and on drums it's Shon Mckee. Stacey was a

guitarist for LA GUNS for a while, and David I have covered for over 10 years,

as far back as when he was with Lovesick Radio. Seasoned, tested and just one badass band - that's what you get with Crashing Wayward.

FILTER was headlining this Vegas show, in preparation to go back out on tour for another leg with Rob Zombie/Alice

Cooper/Ministry,

and the venue really didn't fill as you would hope, tickets were a little high, and they had a lot of competition in town for the night. But I was excited to see them in a smaller intimate setting before the bigger tour. But, the band took to the stage and… they were completely in the dark. They remained pretty much that way until their 10th song, which was "Take A Picture", and then we got a little flashing lights.

Filter has been a hard touring act for years, but this was a little disappointing to not be able to even see them on stage.

The show, and tour, has Richard Patrick and band back out showcasing their 2023 album, The Algorithm, a record that kind of feels more like a retro FIlter, back to a more industrial take, albeit melodic, that shows on the single "Obliteration" featured in the set. Several songs from the album were included in the show, but Filter made sure the fans got to (if not see lol), hear, hits "Trip Like I Do", "Jurassitol", and wrapped up the night with "Hey Man Nice Shot".

FIlter will be out on the Freaks On Parade Rour with Zombie through most of September. You can check out and listen to the new record, look up tour dates and tickets, and see what coming up HERE.
