Killswitch Engage made a early stop in Las Vegas on the first week of their first leg of their 2025 tour, and brought half of Texas with them - the lineup included Kublai Khan TX, Fit For A King, and Frozen Soul, all from the longhorn state. It was a night of metalcore madness, with Jesse Leach and KE leading the pack, and giving fans their first live taste of the new music from album This Consequence as they blasted into Vegas at the Virgin Theater.
Frozen Soul started the night off with their brutal and dense glacial ‘soul’ sound of “Invisible Tormentor" from 2023’s Glacial Domination (on Metal Blade Records and Co-produced by Trivium's Matthew K. Heafy) to get the crowd roiling, and the bodies did just that - pits opening top and fans surfing from the get go.
Vocalist Chad Green is a real force on the stage, and along with Samantha Mobley on bass, Michael Munday and Chris Bonner on guitar, and Matt Dennard on Drums, pummeled the crowd with a grinding set, that led the way for a power packed night to come. More on all things frozen HERE.
Fit For A King blazed into their set with "The Hell We Create", the title track off their 2022 album, and were off. FFAK's emotionally charged metalcore kept the energy going, and their set stayed to more recent releases and the new album cuts.
In late 2024 they announced they were working on a new album slated for 2025, and the set gave us a peek at the new music - FFAK included recent new singles "Keeping Secrets" and "Technium" in the dominating show, and we can't wait! Keep up with news and more HERE.
Kublai Khan TX rolled up on the stage and just set the whole place on fire. "Supreme Ruler" just killed out the gate, and it was near kinetic energy in the air and a wave of bodies over the crowd. Matt Honeycutt is just a monster on vocals, with Nolan Ashley on guitar, Eric English on bass, and drummer Isaac Lamb, pounding out the heavy, heavy tunes for the fans.
KKTX's new album Exhibition of Prowess made up a large bit of the set, the punishing sound rolling over the venue, and with the live debut of "Cannibal" from the album, just insanity. So good. More on Kublai Khan TX and get the album HERE.
Killswitch Engage roared onto the stage with "Strength of the Mind" and "Rose of Sharyn", really hitting the set hard minutes before Jesse Leach was down off the stage and already in the crowd before we could catch a breath. Bodies were flying, fans were screaming and KE kept up a frenzied pace for the set, that featured several songs from their new album, This Consequence, as well as a very varied setlist from across their extensive career catalog.
The album is the ninth studio album and out on Metal Blade Records, after nearly 6 years since Atonement, and it was fantastic to hear new music live from the band, and he fans were crazed, CRAZED. The manic lights and fast pace of the show created just a madness out there, and the momentum kept up until the relentless "My Last Serenade".
The tour has just started and has a long way to go - this leg with this lineup through mid- April, and then back out in May with with Shadows Fall, Fit For A King and Boundaries, before a string of festival dates in the summer.
