Megadeth brought he Destroy All Enemies Tour to the Planet Hollywood PHLive Theater this weekend, and Mustaine and crew annihilated the Vegas crowd with an 18 song set that
spanned the band's decades of music. The huge stage at PHLive really gave the band plenty of space to showcase each member and the fantastic light show that accompanied the set.
Mustaine is the only remaining original member, joined by long time drummer Dirk Verbeuren, bassist James Lomenzo, who rejoined the band as a permanent member again in 2022, and new on the scene Teemu Mäntysaari, who
stepped in last September, replacing MEGADETH's longtime axeman Kiko Loureiro. Mäntysaari, formerly of WINTERSUN and SMACKBOUND, really brought a new cohesiveness to the lineup, and the show was a plethora of flying hair and guitar shredding frenzy.
"The Sick, The Dying...and the Dead!" from their most recent 2022 album of the same name kicked off the show, a frenzied song that immediately showed the talents of each member of the group, setting the tone for the show and the crazy intensity of the crowd.
"Dread and the Fugitive Mind" gave us classic Mustaine growling vocals, and "Hangar 18" and "Sweating Bullets" getting roars from the fans. The show ran a lengthy 15 songs, before an encore that wrapped up with "Peace Sells" before yet another encore ended the night with "Holy Wars".
Mustaine has said he intends to release a new record in 2025, and this is a great lineup to do it. The four really worked well and gelled together for an incredible set and show. The tour continues through September, info and more HERE
