Queensryche has been a staple at The Club at the Cannery, usually making a stop here every fall and always pack the place, and this time was no exception! There have been some changes over the years, with the lineup now standing at Vocalist Todd La Torre, guitarist Mike Stone, drummer Casey Grillo, and original members Michael Wilton, and Eddie Jackson.
The band is on the road this tour celebrating over 40 years of Queensryche music, we were treated to some classic Queensryche hits, as well as some newer cuts from the most recent Digital Noise Relliance from 2022.
The lights went down and the intro started, Pantera's “WALK”, as the band began to take the stage, and blasted into their set with “Behind the Walls” from their most recent album, and then way back to the first album for “Nightrider”, really spanning the calalog off the bat. One of my favs made the cut, “I don’t Believe In Love”, and vocalist Todd La Torre's vocals really highlighted his ability as a singer, it was amazing. Another iconic song, “I Walk In the Shadows” was a highlight, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the song. More monster hits followed with “Take Hold Of the Flame”, “Jet City Woman”, and the band closed out the main set with “Operation: Mindcrime” and “Empire”.
The band took a brief break before returning for a 4 song encore, and began with the serene “Silent Lucidity”, that after so many years still gives me chills, and it had the huge crowd on their feet singing along with the band. I still remember the first time I heard Queensryche perform this song at a music awards show and was blown away by their performance, and I am still blown away.
Queensryche closed out their encore with “Eyes Of A Stranger”, and received a standing ovation from the crowd. This band is timeless, and survived lineup and member changes but are still going strong and bringing the fans the 40+ years of Queensryche they love.
