This was a hometown show by one of our best hometown bands - THE NOCTURNAL AFFAIR returned to Vegas with co-headliner JAGER HENRY and COCO VAUGHN. The Nocturnal Affair as always packed the place, and we got to checkout Rockstars of Tomorrow venue. This show was a coheadlining tour with the Nocturnal Affair, Jager Henry closed the show in LA and the Nocturnal Affair closed out their hometown show in Vegas, and what a homecoming!
Opening up the show was COCO VAUGHN, who I have never seen before. COCO VAUGHN is a young, raw emo/post hardcore band, signed to T&R Recordings out of Dayton Ohio, and has an EP in the works. They are out in support of their latest single, “Unsettling”, and as these young guys work their way around Vegas local clubs give them some support and go check them out on Bandcamp HERE.
Talk about rock n roll royal bloodline - JAGER HENRY is the grandson of drummer John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, and the son of drummer Jason Bonham. But after talking with Jager before and after his show, I got the impression that he is as down to earth as it gets and does not let the distraction of his lineage affect him. Unlike his grandfather and father Jager is not a drummer but a vocalist, and he could have easily used the Bonham name to his advantage but he dropped it to make it his way.
Jager told the crowd he just wants everyone to have fun and enjoy the show, and he gave them a great one. His debut EP Heart Of Thorns was released last fall via Born Sad Records, and the eight-track EP is a real testament to his songwriting skills. Title song "Heart of Thorns" might be my favorite, and features Lil Lotus, and “Mortal Sacrifice" really was a highlight as well. You can learn more about Jager Henry and check out the new music HERE.
The last time I saw THE NOCTURNAL AFFAIR was over a year ago so I was really interested in seeing the band's new lineup, and hearing the new songs live. The Nocturnal Affair has a lot going on, they have a new label, new songs, new members and are going out on tour with Fozzy this year. Led by vocalist Brendan Shane, who in my opinion has never sounded better, this band is ready to show the world what they are really all about. The addition of drummer Kyle Cunningham gives the band something special that they have been lacking - Kyle is a flashy, solid rock n roll drummer and killed it all night.
There is more of a big time feel to the Nocturnal Affair as of now, and the energy they displayed at the show was the best I have ever seen from them. The new songs just totally floored me, especially the single “Cross Me Out” with a killer guitar opening and Brendan's deep vocals, along with great video you can check out HERE! The band played a total of 4 cover songs that the crowd just loved, Depeche Mode's "Its No Good", Weezer's, "Hash Pipe", a song by the band HIM, and closed out with Haddaway's "What is Love" that will be on the bands next EP. A fun and energetic show by all the bands on a Friday night in Vegas. To check out everything about The Nocturnal Affair go to their website HERE.
